Eight years ago I was a college student hustling between running a nonprofit and studying to attend medical school. I faced a major dilemma when I eventually had to decide between applying for medical school or continuing to run Effect.org. Both would meet my goal to give back and help those who needed it the most. I knew this decision would ultimately change the course of my life forever. While deciding between the two paths, I would often come back to Robert Frost’s poem, The Road Not Taken:
“Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.”
I decided to take the leap of faith and continue running the nonprofit and forfeited my plans to enter medical school. I couldn’t be more happy about running Effect.org, the difference it’s made in my life and the impact made on children’s lives India everyday.
This month we are releasing a new program that I’m super excited about, one that will help Effect.org become more sustainable and ensure each child at our schools have access to quality education that enriches their lives forever.
Stay tuned as we’ll be releasing this soon!
